& bring in all your ships.

After a short hiatus due to the recent EVE meet down in London – see TGL3’s blog for more on that – Ganked returned last night.  It was both the 40th Ganked, and the first of 3 roams to celebrate RvB’s third birthday.  Originally I had planned that the theme would be based on the results of this poll, however Daneel Trevize had suggested a “max dps” theme, were we bring as much gank as possible, and I liked the idea so much that I ran with it.

And what a night it was.

Met up in Rens, had the usual conga shenanigans with a little can flip idiocy thrown in for good measure resulting in Blue Rep members being able to get this kill. Then we were off.  Had a speed bump of some Eternal Evocations guys in lowsec, however not all of them went flashy on our broadsword, so we only got a couple of them.  After jumping into G-5EN2 we got word of a sizeable Red Alliance Tier 3 gang over in 9-F, however they would not jump into us, and their use of spais – ON THE LEAST SECURE COMMS IN EVE WITH PILOTS WHO DON’T REALLY CARE WHEN WE DIE, JUST HOW (GG RED, GG. All of EVE remembers you when you were good!) – prevented us getting successful cloaky warpins, so we just moved past them and right onto a Black Ops Hot drop performed by Russian Thunder Squad, members of -A-. Our bait vindicator worked wonders.  Their blops drop failed amazingly, in that we traded 1 Vindicator – that Green got for free – for a few Black Ops BS.

WIN!

I still do not know what exactly those pilots thought they could achieve. Yes, like 2 managed to escape, but that is only because traffic control caught a few of our tacklers & bubblers. Regardless, at that point it felt really good to be back in the Ganked saddle.

And then we were off again, rolling over a CVA gang that was sat at 0 on a gate, and did not cross jump us even when I and a handful of others killed a sabre of theirs that had cross jumped. By the time I got into ERVK-P, the CVA gang was dead, or had ran away really fast. Except for 1 Lachesis that logged WITH aggression and was probed down and killed by us. God knows how the dumb manage to dress themselves in the morning. Speaking of dumb, we crashed a Legio gate-camp later on which did not warp off despite most likely knowing we were coming, and also being in one of the few systems they live in.

We started to spiral down towards the Catch/Stain border, however while idling in QETZ-W, local started spiking with -A- and their various pets, so we jumped into BUZ-DB, hit the station, killed some stuff, bubbled it and waited. And waited. And waited. And then the drake+scimi fleet they had landed in our bubbles and it was on.

IT WAS GLORIOUS!

House & myself switched calling roles, with Dan and others helping out on warpins when needed & the majority of the fleet focusing on primaries when told, grabbing points and generally not being terrible, which warmed my cold bitter heart. As a group we calmly took down targets as called, or as they presented themselves as new primaries – why hello there Mr Scimitar – without much comms clutter or even your FC doing a good impression of a rabbit caught in headlights. While we did end up dead – around 100 of us were still going by this point – we out performed ourselves massively in terms of how we did in the whelp section of the roam.  Overall, I was and still am, very impressed & can happily say that fight really helped me find my love for FCing and EVE once again. Now if only I would undock more.

And then it was 2 AM UK time and it was all over.  As the dust settled we had done around 14 billion isk in damage with 130+ kills to our name. Pretty epic night considering I did the whole thing SOBER and that I ran out of smokes around 11 PM UK.

One last word before videos and prizes, however I shall let fleet chat from towards the end of the night say it for me (& my ego):

September & October are big months for RvB – which is turning three on September 25th – and for Ganked, which begins its very own mid-life crisis on October 6th, when the 40th “official” Ganked roam will take place.

And my dear fleet mates, I am running out of ideas. So please vote in the poll you find in this post and let us see what can figure out. If we cannot, then its ferrari and tank top time I think.

Somewhere out there beneath the blue nebulae
Someone’s shooting at me and looting me tonight

Somewhere out there someone’s saying a prayer
That we’ll find one another in that big somewhere out there

RvB is three years old shortly and as part of our celebrations for this wondrous occasion, I am running the third version of my “Somewhere Out There” event.

For those unaware of what this is, it is a month long – starting on the 24th September – competition, with the aim of encouraging RvB members to fly away from the “core” combat systems, either rolling solo, or in gangs of 5 or less, and find fights in the un-loved systems of whatever region we currently live in – which right now is The Forge.

At the end of the event I do some maths and other creative wizardry and award prizes out to people. The prizes this go round are as follows:

For the past few weeks, my Ganked attendance was due to be pretty flaky so I arranged for Guest FC’s to take a few roams out in my stead.  And for Ganked 36: Snipaa Knights, Lorkin Desal aka Boss aka Luckyccs stepped up and offered to FC a group of sniper ships (and friendly tackle) into null-sec.  And in a strange twist of fate, and my body telling me “I need a night off”, I was there.

And not only was I there, but I formed up the fleet and spammed it around for a while, as strangely enough Lucky was late!  Anyway, when he did show up we piled on out, with at least 45-50 Tier 3’s in fleet along with as many assorted other ships – both snipers & tacklers (ie anything frig sized).  Scouts informed us of RnK being nearby however they had bailed by the time we did pass through their location, and then we found ourselves in G-5EN2.

[ 2012.08.18 19:17:45 ] EVE System > Channel changed to Local : G-5EN2
[ 2012.08.18 19:18:28 ] Mangala Solaris > hai guys

[ 2012.08.18 19:18:37 ] Mangala Solaris > is this where the white wimmin be at?

After some mucking around we came under attack by a 35-40 man Assault Frigate gang from Severance & assorted other Provi residents. We had already moved our snipers off the gate they landed on before they attacked, keeping our tackle there to, well, tackle and those guys did a bang up job while those of us in sniper ships blapped everything. It went surprisingly well.

After being all “fuck yeah, we are pro”, we moved onwards, not seeing much as we did so. We got word of a bomber gang led by Suitonia that may have been ahead of us, however by the time we had a “plan”, they had dropped off our radar, so again on we moved until we got word of a Scorpion Navy Issue that was doing an anomaly in a system on our route. The word was right. Even after jumping 70+ guys into local, he carried on npcing, right up until the time our prober got a point on him, and was still doing it when he died.  Around this time, the Severance AF gang appeared in local again:

[ 2012.08.18 20:21:34 ] Willaev > Round 2?
[ 2012.08.18 20:21:57 ] Mangala Solaris > hi
[ 2012.08.18 20:22:01 ] Llewelyn Fawr > o/
[ 2012.08.18 20:22:05 ] luckyccs > come at us bros

[ 2012.08.18 20:22:11 ] Llewelyn Fawr > spam?
[ 2012.08.18 20:22:11 ] Kadesch47 > wb mates

And eventually engaged us in F9E-KX. Was a bit messier this time, but we still killed them dead, along with a couple of random Loki’s that showed up, a phobos & a phantasm as well.

Snipers really, really, really, are so much fun.

After a small break in HED-GP which consisted of being both afk and warping around popping anything people could catch, we headed back out this time into deepest Catch. We saw very little along our route until we got word that -A- and their southern buddies were in GE-8JV and for once not sitting in Armageddons with Onerios support, but in Tier 3’s much like ourselves. We raced ahead to EX6-AO and in a random move for snipers, setup right on the in-gate with a “plan”. -A- in a surprising move jumped in and started moving off the gate. Lucky started calling and things started dieing on both sides.  We managed to take down quite a number of their shinier ships before we were overcome by their numbers (the silly numbers of Tornados that jumped in during the fight really bolstered the -A- numbers!), but we fought and whelped and that was why we were out after all. Evekill says this and the -A- kb (which may be green) says this.

And that was that.

Roam was over.  Night was a huge success, 114 kills at around 9billion isk and to be the snipers made a change from being on the receiving end of them.  What a great night Luckyccs gave us!

RvB has many many members all making pretty explosions on a day to day basis, however a small number of these pilots either “live-stream” or “fraps” their efforts and I figured I would highlight some of them here. If you are in RvB and have a stream or make videos and want to be included here, then let me know via private message on the RvB Forums.

==========================

Live Streams, just a note these guys may not stream every day, but when they do it’s usually very much worth watching – assuming you are not one of the people flying with or against them:

A player new to Eve online named El’ia Kusoni rolls this stream nearly every day and features RvB action from the view point of a low sp character. He gladly accepts donations to keep him in ships to blow up for your viewing pleasure.

Watch live video from El’ia Kusoni on www.twitch.tv

Eve Online veteran Tribal Solidarity streams fights from the Blue Republic point of view, in addition he also is one of the live streamers for RvB Ganked.

Watch live video from kura_eve on www.twitch.tv

RvB Alliance Tournament 10 Team Member, Zerge Bacon streams on a less regular basis, but is very much worth the watch.

Ganked 34: IN THE NAVY MATE, was originally going to roll down the South and South West, however following the events that have become known as “The Mate War“, I changed that and decided to roll us North. A couple of days after this decision was taken, it turned out that NCDOT and others had been found breaking the terms of an agreement they had with other owners of Technetium moons, who had as a result decided to forcibly expel NCDOT from their space; Consequently my decision to go north felt even more justified, as with Goons & the rest of the CFC dog-piling onto NCDOT, Black Legion & Nulli Secunda then the possibility of orgies of boat violencing destruction was too good to pass up.

The chosen theme was Navy & Fleet hulls and we got a very very impressive number of them, out of the 190 pilots that left the Reisen area Id say roughly 120 were in hulls ranging from the Caldari Navy Hookbill to the Republic Fleet Firetail to the Stabber Fleet Issue even as far as a Dominix Navy Issue and a Tempest Fleet Issue. Looked very impressive when I zoomed around the fleet, just annoyed I did not take any screenshots.

After a little travel time and no sightings of anyone, we were just jumping into OEY- in Geminate, when word went out that there was a few NCDOT mates behind us, so I ordered the fleet on to our in gate over in 39- and set up. And waited. And waited.  All the while hearing reports of the NCDOT numbers going up, thinking to myself all the time: “So nice of them to come and see us, without making us schlep all the way to Tribute.”

Turns out they had brought ALL the scimitars to keep their Tengu’s alive:

[ 2012.08.05 17:57:12 ] Nyu Trustan > loool so many scimi’s
[ 2012.08.05 17:57:14 ] Verse Askold > 23 scimis

So out of a 80 man fleet (give or take a few, as I cannot recall the exact figure), around 1/3rd were logistics. And apparently they called that a “lol fleet”, weirdest definition of “lol” that I have heard of, how about you guys?

Anyway, eventually they began jumping in and I called their interdictors right away, however after a couple went down it was apparent that even with our superior numbers, we would not break their scimitar reps and so I started having us BURN ALIGN, BURN ALIGN, BURN ALIGN, BURN ALIGN and warping us to the next gate on our route as soon as I thought it was possible.  We suffered some losses this way, but not as many had we stood our ground and fought. After a few jumps of this, I called another BURN ALIGN and warped the fleet – well the parts that had not warped to the obvious out gate already – to another gate in the same cluster as the out gate marked yellow.

And jumped us through.

Then I had the group of pilots with me leg it.

I was not sure what happened to the 60+ guys I left behind while I was doing this, but I know the majority got out and met up in FDZ4-A with very minimal losses.  However the fun part was, the NCDOT fleet realised what I had done and came right after my group and the chase was on, would my 80 guys get away before they tired of the chase or would they do us in and be able to claim victory against a drunk fleet?  As it turned out, I got my group all the way back to empire via Great Wildlands before NCDOT gave up and carried on to wherever it was they went.  We had survived a very merry Benny Hill style chase, just with less maid & nurse outfits.

Watch live video from kura_eve on TwitchTV

Eventually my group also ended up back in FDZ4-A, where the other survivors had been camping a gate and also trying to bump a carrier off a station. I soon ended this overt display of boredom and moved us into Vale of the silent, where nothing much happened except a solo NCDOT Tengu & a solo RnK Cynabal, and the small matter of a Charon in space that we had probers rushing from highsec to find but  to our shame they were too late. It logged before they arrived.

Following this little diversion, we moved into Tribute, killed a few more ships belonging to NCDOT (Bad bubblers are bad), and an Intrepid Crossing Viator that did not cloak or warp before Kaeda got a point on it (Yes he fit one for this roam!), the pilot of which offered us ISK:

[ 2012.08.05 21:03:56 ] Mourning Souls > “[21:03:38] Taidel > i’ll pay”

However he died before we could even discuss negotiating with him amongst ourselves. His pod was juicy.

We wandered around a little, heard of a Black Legion rokh fleet in 0-Y, Wiiggls heroically tried to get us a warp in, but being hammered didnt do it and died for his trouble. Then Lorkin got us one, so we jumped in, landed on them, tried to down something before their reps landed, failed and ran away again losing a few more ships in the process. As we jumped out of 0-Y we found ANOTHER fleet – this time the CFC & PL, a happy few made it past them only to run into NCDOT this time in Abaddons and armour logistics…  Then suddenly we were in EC-P8R and it was the end of the roam, plenty of us survived and got out into high sec space, including Arciteck who had been rolling the whole night in a full HG Slave set!

All in all, a very random night, not many kills, but isk wise better than some other Ganked roams. I know most of the fleet enjoyed themselves especially when we were being chased by NCDOT in their Tengu fleet. but and I mean it this time, SCREW THE NORTH.

I’m taking my ball and not going back there again.

As ever our glorious sponsors at Somer.Blink provided several prizes for this roam:

Scouting Distinction – Buzzard+Launcher+Probes x3 (Kaeda Maxwell,  Roigon, Brutus Aniofka)

Corpse Collector – Sabre (Solarienne)

So, you have been on an RvB Ganked roam, seen me whelp us repeatedly and still have people fly with me over and over again, and now want to run a Ganked yourself?

Then you are in luck!  This post is going to cover the basics you should understand before attempting to “FC” a Ganked roam, and I may or may not ramble off on various other Ganked FC related topics along the way. We shall see.

Theme:  Try to pick something that does not limit the ability of others to take part, for example do not say “Stealth Bomber roam with Blops support” as suddenly 50% or more of regular, and potential RvB Ganked attendee’s, are unable to attend due to skill & experience levels. Any ship type that has a low barrier for entry or at least a T1 variant is your best bet to be as inclusive as possible.

Meetup Location: Use a hub, or somewhere close to a hub, that also has a reasonably close low sec, so that even the less law abiding amongst us can aid us in our eternal quest to locust the hell out of the market in every region we start from. In addition, try to ensure your meetup location gives you access to several possible regions.  Saying “lets go from Stacmon” for example only really gives you Syndicate as a viable target region, whereas Rens gives you Providence, Great Wildlands, & Curse. Dotlan is very useful for helping with this decision.

Scouts: Choose them wisely.  Green Gambit, Evilian, Kaeda Maxwell, Thecla Elarik, Daneel Trevize & Lorkin Desal (in one of his many guises) are amongst the best the regular Ganked line up has to offer. However, more are always appreciated, especially if they bring combat probes.

Local Spam: Ensure it is mostly in line with the theme, see if you can get a couple of handy images “shopped in time for the roam, and as usual YouTube will provide relevant videos. One thing to note, try not to let your fleet mates go TOO FAR in regards to spam, it can get them warned or even banned and we do not want any negative publicity or views when it comes to Ganked do we?

Once this is all done and you have passed the info to me, I will make the post on the RvB forums, mail the mailing list and begin the weeks twitter campaign, as well as edit the RvB Ganked channel MoTD to ensure as much coverage as possible is given to the roam. The more the merrier on these things after all.  I’d suggest if you are Guest FCing a Ganked roam you also work on publicity from your end and your in game social circle too, as occasionally I do slip and either forget or get too busy to push as much as I normally do.

On the night, set up your fleet, use the Fleet MoTD for all the important information, have your route(s) communicated to your scouts and then herd your cats to glory! While doing this remember:

  1. Lemmings will happen. Make sure they link their losses;
  2. Gloriously running away is a GOOD thing if you want to avoid a needless whelp. If 20+ logistics will ruin a fun whelp, then bail. No one will mind;
  3. People may expect broadcasts, try and do it, means more people on the primaries therefore more chance of winning the isk war;
  4. Shinies are a great way to “win” a Ganked roam. Primary them at all costs, especially if they jumped to you before their logistics did;
  5. Ensure there is a prober around;
  6. Never go north, they just are not as fun as the rest of null-sec space.

And most importantly, try to keep the following two images in your mind at all times, one to link & one to just keep you smiling no matter what the fleet actually does:

And its all over.

It is now the day after and the roam was a success, you killed stuff, stuff killed you, and people got very drunk playing internet spaceships.  I would love it if you mailed me your prize winners so I can get our wonderful sponsor’s at Somer.Blink to pass their prizes to them and if you can write a few words about the roam and I’ll post them on my blog/Reddit for publicity – any publicity is good publicity after all.

After you have done this, you can have your life back.

Not quite the same as it was before is it…

Jul 312012

Of all the reasons to go to war, would you have ever guessed that the word “Mate” was one of them?

No?

Neither would we in RvB.

However, as it turns out, this is a perfectly acceptable reason for certain parties within NCDOT to go to war. The background to why exactly they think this way is as follows:

NCDOT alt by the name of Jimmy 4chan (inspired huh?!), joins RvB.  Along comes one of our theme weekends, and Jimmy breaks the theme, kills a few guys while in something he should not have been, and as a result gets convo’d by the one and only Nyu Trustan. Now Nyu, in his chat, uses the word “mate” quite a lot and Jimmy, being a very special snowflake, takes some offence at it, threatening to get Nyu banned…

[ 2012.07.29 17:52:35 ] Jimmy 4chan > need to speak to somebody that doesnt call me a fag every 20 secs
[ 2012.07.29 17:52:59 ] Nyu Trustan > I havnt been offensive, im giving you your terms
[ 2012.07.29 17:53:23 ] Jimmy 4chan > you have repeated me called me homosexual
[ 2012.07.29 17:53:37 ] Jimmy 4chan > and refered that i am in a relationship with other pilots in this game
[ 2012.07.29 17:53:53 ] Nyu Trustan > mates is not a homosexual reference.
[ 2012.07.29 17:53:57 ] Jimmy 4chan > going to petition you now
[ 2012.07.29 17:54:01 ] Jimmy 4chan > yes it is
[ 2012.07.29 17:54:03 ] Nyu Trustan > yea go for it mate
[ 2012.07.29 17:54:28 ] Jimmy 4chan > thanks for your willingness to accept ccp sanctions
[ 2012.07.29 17:55:09 ] Nyu Trustan > Your going to get your petition looked at for 2 seconds and closed, I wish you well in your time away from RvB, you may return if you choose to pay for your kills
[ 2012.07.29 17:55:13 ] Nyu Trustan > See you round mate

So, Jimmy leaves/gets kicked for being an illiterate baby who cannot comprehend something as basic as our weekend theme’s – then again having read some of the smack NCDOT spam in local when my RvB Ganked roams run across them, I am beginning to think they are all exactly like Jimmy – and very soon after, NCDOT declare war on the glorious forces of Red vs Blue. This is swiftly followed up by Jimmy’s main/another alt, convoing an RvB director type about the joint war declarations (I have trimmed this a little):

Travis Musgrat > How are you doing today
Jiny > fantastic…what can I do for you?
Travis Musgrat > WELL
Travis Musgrat > who o i contact for scheduling a fight
Travis Musgrat > and why do your leaders call players homosexuals
Jiny > well, the rules are clearly posted….so if you failed to read them and then decide to be rude about it…
Travis Musgrat > wasnt being rude he was the one calling homosexual
Jiny > do you mean the word “mate”?
Travis Musgrat > yes
Jiny > that’s a brittish word for friend, associate, comrade….
Jiny > not a gay reference
Travis Musgrat > thats very offensive where i live so my gm bro is going to ban him for a while tomorrow
Jiny > well that’s up to CCP….but something tells me they aren’t going to see it that way
Travis Musgrat > matei have 876 billion isk so i dont have a problem paying for their ships if you give a valid reason for shooting them
Jiny > I thought mate was a derogatory term?
Travis Musgrat > yes it is
Jiny > so…..
Travis Musgrat > same as faggot
Travis Musgrat > cocksucker
Travis Musgrat > etc
Travis Musgrat > you get the point mate
Travis Musgrat > i said i would pay for the ships i killed in my drake
Travis Musgrat > but just not the ones that were killed during the fight that continued after i die
Jiny > well that time has passed, you were rude to my members, then to one of my TLs….now by your own definition you are being rude to me, enjoy your wardec

Following this, the RvB spam crew (me amongst them) starts posting about this on Reddit, Twitter, EVEO (Login to the EVE forums before opening this link), Failheap Challenge & of course the RvB Forums, the next 24 hours become some of the most fun I have had in EVE without un-docking.  During the time before the war itself goes live, we get some allies, the most notable of which being Goonswarm Federation, We Form Voltron & The Devil’s Tattoo.

And for even more hilarity, a troll corp called Yellow Federation also declared war, after plagiarising the existing RvB recruitment post.

And then it was time for us to fight,  with first blood in The Mate War going to the pilots of the Blue Republic for this kill. Shortly after this kill occurred, we received word that a “large”, BS & BC heavy group of NCDOT pilots was rolling out from Jita:

A couple of hastily set-up RvB reaction fleets were formed and very very loosely coordinated, and then it was time for some action. One of the in gates for Otela became the site of the first major battle of this war.  And well, excluding some purple on purple mishaps – overviews really are not that difficult to set-up mates – it totally went RvB’s way. Yes, it can be said this is down to our number’s but also our rank & file members seem much more willing to prosecute this war than those of the NCDOT (those who can get into High Sec space anyway!) For a sample of what they were thinking after this action, see this pastebin, the highlight of which is this line:

[20:31:47] Poision Kevin > and our epic cor of 6 RR BS’s couldn’t hold reps vs 120 random srubs shooting

One of the member’s of the smaller RvB “veteran” fleet recorded this fraps of that fight:

After a short lull, NCDOT once again left Jita, however this time they had a much larger gang with a very very solid (on paper anyway) core of 30 battleships, and after some neutral scanning of those ships, it turned out NCDOT were fighting like it was 2010 again. Lots of RRBS… Once again, RvB coordinated between it’s fleets and following some back and forth between gates, the larger of our groups jumped in and started spreading tackles, catching pretty much everything the NCDOT had before they could even think of bailing. Once aggro was established, the smaller veteran fleet jumped in, and while our mates dealt with the 12 – yes 12! remote repair Dominix’s, we focused fire on their Megathrons, Armageddons and Typhoons. With your’s truly doing the calling.  Within 10 minutes it was all over. Some of the enemy had escaped but not too many. The field was our’s once again!

More Pastebin logs of the enemy chatter following this engagement can be found here, here & here. The final one is the most amusing as Poision Kevin accuses us of not fighting, obviously he does not understand that herding 180 mostly drunk, certainly bloodthirsty cats around is damn difficult, as after all he is a member of such a “pro” pvp alliance. And when we did fight, things just fell apart for his little group. Amusing is such an understatement, but that’s my view and I shall stick to it.

The rest of the night following this was pretty uneventful. Small skirmishes around the way, Yellow Federation pulled off a smart-bomb BS trick in Jita – hey it happens, its not like an RvB Ganked veteran can be in EVERY RvB fleet warning them about how obvious a smart-bomb BS is to spot….

To follow the action, watch the campaigns on the 3 RvB killboards:

Red: NCDOT / Yellow Federation

Blue: NCDOT / Yellow Federation

Purple: NCDOT / Yellow Federation

While I have linked other vidya’s above from the view of the smaller veteran RvB fleet, the following are taken from the view point of members of the larger spai infilitrated RvB fleet (Courtesy of Karim alRashid & Shadowgirl9), however just allow me to say to the members of that fleet, BLOODY GOOD JOB GUYS! You did a bang up job taking down the targets as your FC’ and callers targeted them, without you guys willingness to fight, the first day could have been a wash out for us.  So thanks again!

To our enemies in NCDOT & Yellow Federation all I have to say is keep trying eventually you’ll soundly thrash us, and regardless of how long it takes, keep bringing the good fights and we’ll keep calling you mates in local.

Jul 232012

RvB Ganked was One yesterday.  And to celebrate we took destroyer hulls out on one of our infamous day long roaming sessions. I am not going to write too much about this, I’ll let the various videos cover the day – when they are posted – however we had a really good day, was pretty quiet at the start, although I did lead us through the drone regions.  Highlight of that part was a Super Twinkey69 kill that some of the fleet got without me even knowing, all while NCDOT was showing off their “logi powerz” to a gang of 100 destroyer hulls!  If only we had carried on past that system we would have found a more manageable IRC group to throw ourselves at, instead of the angry northerners who never play nice when we face them.

After a small break we went back out, and after a damn quiet roam through GW & Curse, we eventually ended up jumping into HED-GP, and into a gang.  I de-cloaked first so died first, but the rest of the gang performed excellently, even allowing me to grab a newbie vessel from Chribba’s house and rejoin the fight to whore some mails, but not until they had killed a Proteus and other “worth more than half our gang” type ships. Cue a quick reship in Agil and we bimbled back to HED-GP, finding a TEST gang also waiting to jump in from Keberz.

And this is the end result of yet another fun impromptu three way.  Epic fight was Epic, and finally HED-GP starts being fun again. Following this we moved onwards, and decided to go to 1DH- and chat with our new bro’s TEST.  Got there after killing a dumb cloaki that did not run in time, jumped in using FLEET SCOUT BEST SCOUT and there was a TEST gang.

With no bubbles up.

So I warped us off to the PR- gate, which funnily had a single bubble anchored around it. And there we made our stand

Not a bad haul considering the 400 TEST & Friends in system! And that was the end of the night. Yet another epic day was over with, over 100 kills done, including 3 Tech 3 cruisers and THAT Cynabal.  Happy birthday to us!

Vidya’s

Before I get to the Somer.Blink sponsored goodies, I just want to say a small thing about Ganked.

Its all Tim Pest’s fault!

Who knew that RvB Ganked, an excellent idea that Tim had around a year ago, would grow to become the juggernaut of open to all drunken roams it has become. With over 2000 kills & 150 BILLION isk in damage done in our first year alone, I can only see it getting bigger and better, unless of course the residents of nullsec learn how to bomb properly. For my part, it has been and continues to be a joy to “Not FC” you all nearly every week.  Who knew that from calling the big whelp in the second half of Ganked One I would go on to lead a further 28, and all because Tim let me pick up the ball and run with it. So to reiterate, it is all Tim Pest’s fault!

For this roam, I asked our glorious at sponsors at Somer.Blink to sponsor some prizes – as they do anyway – but with a slight twist and so without more words here are the winners:

Spot Prizes – 20 Navy Frigs (1 each to 20 people, possibly random selection of hull via Blink:  Giana Queen Fox, Major Trant, Bunniy, Aliisa White, Lachlan Herrema, Garett No’Jubai, Solarienne, Nutjob O’Crazy, Tranquil Hegemony, Swatzor,  Arcadis Netharius, Dirk Magnum, Kruger Vemski, Cannybull, Lee Hoshmo, Carathas, Castellan187, Shino Gekai, Elmicker, Lodavier)

Combat Distinction – Vexor Navy Issue x 3.  (SMM Scotland1993, Y’talana Ktra’a, DefMan Kahoudi)

—————

Following awards were voted for by attendee’s of the evening part of the roam:

Best videographer for year 1: Cynabal  (Geddonz)

MV Scout for year 1: Inty pack – 1 each of all inties (Green Gambit).

—————

The following are based on performance over our campaigns this last year:

Most pods in year One: 1 of each bomber. (Macgyver 3rd – over 100 confirmed pod kills)

Topped the most kills, the most often: Navy Megathron (LizzVicious – achieved most kills on 4 different campaigns)

In addition to the above AssassinationsDoneWrong donated a Vindicator to be awarded to the RvB Ganked Year One MVP , and this was won by Green Gambit, for all his hard work scouting, occasional FCing, forming fleets when I am late, and keeping us focused while he was obsessing over finding the mythical mack+rorq mining op. Well done Green! I know I – and the fleet – would be lost without you!

Jul 162012

Last night, Sunday 15th July, saw the Thukk You, Frill Me protest event happen, which handily provided me with a theme for a Ganked roam that I did not have to think up myself!

We gathered a very large fleet consisting mostly of Stabber hulls (Stabber, Stabber Fleet Issue & Vagabond), in fact at our peak we had 190 pilots flying with us, one of the largest Ganked fleets to date.

At the kick off time we moved into Jita, managing to cap out the system and lock around half the fleet out at the same time too, however eventually everyone got in – at the expense of some angry haulers no doubt – and we congregated around the monument a ways off Jita 4-4, were at an appointed time we were to explode a vagabond as part of the Thukk You, Frill Me event. While waiting to do that we bumped haulers off the 4-4 undock, kept shooting a flashy typhoon – eventually killing its pilot in a reaper – and then just as we killed Lord Director Combat Mink in the symbolic vagabond hull to represent our disdain for the removal of the vagabond’s frill, we had a visit from a smart-bomb fit battleship.  These people never learn do they.

Following the protest in Jita the fleet numbers swelled to over 180 pilots, including such luminaries as Rixx Javix & Sindel Pellion and we moved onwards towards Great Wildlands.  The journey down was very uneventful except for a couple of kills in the N-RAEL area, including this Rattlesnake kill. As an aside turns out the Rattler pilot was moving it to Empire for one reason:

[ 2012.07.15 23:30:19 ] Mr Ranger > as epic as it is the rattlesnake kill is ironic
[ 2012.07.15 23:31:22 ] Mr Ranger > it was the last thing i had in null sec, i was bringing it to high so i could leave my corp and join RvB
[ 2012.07.15 23:31:32 ] Mr Ranger > and i get killed by a fleet that is part RvB
[ 2012.07.15 23:31:51 ] Mangala Solaris > oops
[ 2012.07.15 23:31:57 ] Mangala Solaris > and i didnt even get on the mail

[ 2012.07.15 23:32:58 ] Y’talana Ktra’a > Thats the best way to join RvB, Mr. Ranger
[ 2012.07.15 23:33:05 ] Green Gambit > sorry
[ 2012.07.15 23:33:05 ] Y’talana Ktra’a > *hugs*
[ 2012.07.15 23:33:17 ] Green Gambit > and we only found you cos I was in the wrong place
[ 2012.07.15 23:33:25 ] Mr Ranger > lol

Eventually, after some fun with Autopilot routing some of us one way through Great Wildlands, and some of us another way, we ended up in M-MD3B.  A few of our fleet took the opportunity to shoot at the Thukker HQ there, while the rest of us took a small break, before we moved the roam onwards looking for a huge fire to die to.  And that took ages, obviously 150+ in fleet at that stage is scary, even when its 150 drunks in Stabber hulls with me leading them.  We bounced through Curse, with only a few losses – mostly lemmings and one drunken Seismic Stan – and only a couple of kills around Doril while I was flouncing off due to other issues!

Then I heard of a potential large group of dudes in GE- in Catch, and away we went. We got there, got wind of an -A- gang sitting on the in gate in Rokhs and support ships, ended up jumping after they had warped. Turned out they warped to reship into Armageddons and Onerios and Lokis and such things. Our Glorious Fleet of No Frills then jumped out and waited for them to follow, which they did. And then we died, as -A- need such a morale booster that they cannot even fight a fun fleet in a fun way, they have to pretty much decimate it; I suppose when you normally cannot find the undock button, have worse FC’s than me and are not the powerhouse you used to be, you take anything you can. However we did give them a bloody nose on our way down.

And that boys & girls is the story of Ganked 31: No Frills.
